At our organization KENYA DIABETES MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION CENTRE we hold one motto close to our hearts: “No child should die from diabetes.”
Every day, we encounter new stories—stories of strength, fear, and courage. Sitting with these individuals and hearing their journeys, from diagnosis to where they are today, reveals just how tough this path is. Diabetes is a non-communicable disease, yet the stigma, myths, and misconceptions surrounding it often feel heavier than the condition itself.
From diet and exercise to carb counting and insulin management, each person finds their unique way of coping. But the mental weight—questions like “Will I be okay? Will people accept me? Can I live a full life?”—can be overwhelming.
We strive to guide and encourage:
✅ Set achievable goals for diet, physical activity, sleep, and stress.
✅ Learn how to self-monitor glucose and understand your health metrics.
✅ Educate yourself about diabetes management—it’s critical for avoiding complications.
✅ Join support groups, talk to friends, or journal when you’re feeling low. Your mental health matters as much as your physical health.
Managing diabetes is not easy, but it’s worth it. With the right tools, support, and determination, you can live a full and healthy life.
💙 To everyone living with diabetes: Never give up. You are not alone. 💙
